Drive to Amboseli National Park via the Nairobi - Mombasa highway home to the proud and brightly painted Maa tribe of the Maasai, the acacia woodlands and grasslands of the park shelter an abundance of game including buffalo, lion, cheetah, hyena, zebra and wildebeest. Amboseli National Park lies below the most famous symbol of Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing mountain in the world. Its snow capped peak will dominate the background while you marvel at the wildlife and scenery. Streams from Kilimanjaro surface in the centre of Amboseli, creating swamps that attract and support a rich diversity of wild animals and birdlife. Most of Amboseli is flat and dusty and so the best spots for game viewing are these wetlands.
Day spent in Amboseli National Park.
Check out after breakfast. Join your driver guide and drive down to the floor of the Rift Valley on your way to Lake Elementaita area with a stopover at the famous Rift Valley Viewpoint.
You will be expected to arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon on leisure at the hotel.
Breakfast at the lodge and check out. Join your tour guide and drive East to the famous Maasai Mara.
Masai Mara is one of Kenya’s most visited and richest game reserve with a huge density of wildlife including the big five. It is also famous for the great wildebeest migration that occurs annually. The great migration involves the wildebeest, zebra and gazelle instinct led movement from the Serengeti in Tanzania around July to the Masai Mara in Kenya and then departing around November. This journey is coupled by numerous obstacles which makes it even more magnificent.
Arrival will be in time for lunch. Early afternoon spent on leisure to enjoy the camp’s amenities and freshen up. Later join your driver guide for the afternoon game drive returning to your lodge before dusk.
Spend the day in Maasai Mara with full day game drives giving you a chance to view the animals that eluded you the previous day. You can also engage in other extra activities as suggested by your tour guide.
Hot air balloon is a perfect way to fully understand the extent of the landscape as well as a great way to see vast swathes of animals as they move through their habitat. Taking a balloon safari is an optional activity offered at an extra cost, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience the Masai Mara like few have.
