On arrival in Pakse, you will be met by our staff and taken to Saravanh province. We take a tea break en route to the Bolaven Plateau to observe the locals and their way of life. The Bolaven Plateau is known for its cooler temperature and for the impressive rivers that run off the plateau’s edges and plunge into the lush forests below. We’ll make sure to stop at Tad Fan and Tad Yeuang waterfall with its spectacular twin waterfalls plummeting into a deep gorge surrounded by flourishing vegetation. A trip to the plateau provides a refreshing break from the heat and allows you to see how coffee, tea, cardamom, bananas, and other crops are cultivated. This part of our journey is off the beaten track and allows you to discover some of the lesser-known areas in Laos and local ethnic village. Overnight at hotel
Morning, drive to Ban Beng, a small town nestled right in the heart of the Boloven Plateau. Meet Mr Khamsone – local tour guide, hop on his jeep car to take a jeep tour along a rustic trail that passes through local bush and rolling farmland (including lettuce, ginger, cabbage...) on the way to Tad Moun cascade. On arrival, free at leisure at the waterfall.
The Bolaven Plateau is an elevated region which extends over Champasak, Salavan, Xekong and Attapeu Provinces in southern Laos. Located between the Annamite Mountain Range, the region’s temperate climate makes it a coffee grower’s paradise, and its superb waterfalls and numerous small villages are sure to enchant. The plateau derives its name from the Laven ethnic group, which has historically dominated the region.
Hike further toward Mr Khamsone farm Named: MMC (Mystic Mountain Coffee) crossing glorious vegetation, and plantations. Arrive at his farm around 12h:30 pm and enjoy a local specialties lunch. Settle in his homestay.
In the afternoon, visit his coffee plantation to learn more about the production process.
A young coffee tree is productive three to four years after planting. The shrub can then live for many decades. The crown is folded down to avoid excessive height development. When fruits reach maturity (six to eight months after flowering for arabica - nine to eleven months for robusta) the coffee harvest can begin. Two methods are used, picking or destemming. Then come the processes of drying, and roasting, this one developing the aroma and the final color of the coffee.
Then continue trekking to the mountain Phoukatouk.
Late afternoon, get back to the homestay. The remainder of the evening is at leisure.
Dinner served at Mr. Khamsone’s farm. ( Mystic Mountain Coffee farm & Homestay )

About the Secret War in Bolaven plateau.
Operation Sayasila (26 July 1971—31 October 1971) was a major offensive military operation of the Laotian Civil War. It was staged by command of King Sisavang Vatthana. Launched on 26 July 1971 against the Ho Chi Minh Trail complex and its People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) garrison, Sayasila was planned as a rather complex two phase operation dependent on coordinating two columns containing 4,400 troops with close air support in an attack on 1,100 Vietnamese Communist soldiers. When the assault stalled in mid-August, it was elaborated upon with two additional helilifts of Royalist troops behind the PAVN's mobile garrison. When the Royalist command failed to coordinate tactical movements among its various columns, the PAVN 9th Regiment moved to defeat Royalist aggressor columns one at a time. By 1 September, this Royalist attack had also failed. Bolstered by a fresh regiment of guerrillas as reinforcements, plus support by a minimum of 40 daily U.S. Air Force strike sorties, the Operation Sayasila offensive was renewed on 10 September 1971. It took until 20 October for the Royalists to finally capture their objectives of Salavan and Pak Song. Although the Royal Lao Government (RLG) troops had finally gained their objective, their casualties outnumbered the enemy force they evicted from their objectives. These two strategic points will finally be lost at the end of the year after the Thao La operation which was led to cut off the trans-shipment of the PAVN garrisons and their hold on the Bolaven Plateau.
